Shingletown Saloon, the country bar at 2016 NW Market St in Ballard, closed April 25, 2026 after 11 years. Ownership cited a new lease with higher rent, rising operating costs, and shifting late-night trends as reasons for closing.

The bar opened in summer 2015 as a gastropub and gradually became a country and line-dancing venue: karaoke nights, drink specials, and live music. It was not an electronic music venue, but it was a Ballard nightlife fixture on the same stretch as Shibuya Hi-Fi a few blocks away.

The closure follows a pattern that’s been consistent across Seattle’s independent music and nightlife venues since 2020. The Little Red Hen, another longtime Seattle country bar, was simultaneously facing a lease dispute.

Shingletown is outside Seattle Synths’ core coverage, but its closure belongs in the same local infrastructure file: independent venues in Ballard and across Seattle are still trying to absorb rent increases, staffing costs, and changed late-night habits.
