Baba Yaga opened in June 2024 at 124 S Washington St in Pioneer Square, occupying a multilevel space with original 1890s brick. The venue was opened by Ryan Granger, lead guitarist of Seattle band The Grizzled Mighty, who previously bartended and helped with the pandemic remodel at Sunset Tavern in Ballard.

The space has history. It was most recently the Box House bar and downstairs dance club The Underground, and before that the Last Supper Club, a Pioneer Square nightclub institution of the 2000s. Granger stripped it back and rebuilt it as an all-day venue: coffee and food in the morning, live music and DJ events at night, two stages, two bars, Mexican food, and espresso.

The programming is mixed: rock, indie, DJ nights, and electronic events from touring and local acts. It runs house and techno nights alongside live bands, making it one of the more flexible rooms in Pioneer Square for electronic bookings. Hours are Monday through Friday 7am-2am, Saturday and Sunday 9am-2am.

Granger’s stated goal was to keep ticket prices low, book local acts alongside touring acts, and run the space as a neighborhood clubhouse rather than a pure nightclub operation. Pioneer Square had lost several venues in the years prior; Baba Yaga is now one of the neighborhood’s most active new rooms.
